ABB was recognized with 8 local companies ranking among “the 17th China
Top 100 Electric Companies” according to the ranking announced on
December 9, and won another two important prestigious awards, “China’ s
Top 10 Electric Companies by Competitiveness” and “China’ s Top 10
Electric Companies by Innovation Capability”. This demonstrated ABB’s
leadership in the development of electric and manufacturing industries
in the new round of industrial revolution.
“China Top 100 Electric Companies” is an annual award hosted by Electric Age,
a leading trade magazine sponsored by the China Machinery Industry
Information Institute. Initiated in 2000, this event has been held for
17 years consecutively and has become the annual focus and a barometer
of the Chinese electric industry.
Mr. Zhou Baodong, Deputy Party Secretary of the China Machinery Industry
Information Institute, said, “With the rise of a new round of technical
revolution, the electric equipment manufacturing industry is gradually
shifting from element-driven to innovation-driven development, and
upgrading from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing.
Faced with various challenges under New Normal, China’s electric
companies, especially the top 100 electric companies strived to enhance
their comprehensive strength while maintaining a growth in revenues by
fostering innovation.”
As the new generation of information technologies are increasingly
integrated into utility, industry, transport and infrastructure sectors,
digitalization and intellectualization have become the key directions
for industrial development and revolution, creating new opportunities.
As a pioneering technology leader and global digital champion, ABB had
more than 55% of revenues from software and digital devices. Based on
above 70 million connected devices and above 70,000 installed control
systems, ABB is using its profound knowledge of its customers’ domains
to develop a unique digital offering and realize the full potential of
digitalization with continuous innovation.
In 2016, ABB announced the milestone of its 50,000th robot manufactured
in China and completed the second production line of servo motor in
Shanghai to better meet the increasing demand of robot market for this
key component. Meanwhile, ABB introduced a number of new robots to China
such as the robot collaboration solution SafeMove2, IRB 1200 Foundry
Plus2, and compact robot IRB1660ID, to support industrial restructuring
and upgrade with digital and smart products, to facilitate China
manufacturing’s transformation from a “big” to “strong”.
